Starting A New Year

I hope you all had a great 2013! If not then it’s ok because this is a new year and the slate is washed cleaned.

I really wanted to come and just encourage you for year 2014. I like to use this time (normally the last day of Dec or the first day of January but this year has already started a little busy but still not too late) to reflect on last year and my goals I sat. I urge you to do the same. Not to beat yourself up on why you didn’t’ accomplish some of the things you may have sat but to maybe evaluate why you didn’t so that you can maybe adjust this year. Reflection is also good to look at the highlights of last year and some things learned. I don’t think a day is ever wasted, there’s always a lesson to be learned whether good or bad some lessons are more clearly seen where others you have to search for them. So certainly a whole year cannot be wasted without tons of lessons intertwined.

Looking at my 2013 goals that I had set, I noticed that I had sat too many. We have to remember that although it is a new year as Christians our slates are wiped clean daily.                                                            “Lamentations 3:22-24/ 22 The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.”
So therefore its not necessary to try to put every goal down to be accomplish in a year. Speaking for myself, I use to put down all these changes I wanted to make with the thought that if I didn’t write them all down in the beginning of the year then it wouldn’t happen or something ( I never said it but thinking back, that was how I felt).

To be clear… its important to make goals for the year but be careful to not fall into the trend of making “resolutions” and so many that you cannot realistically keep up with.

This time around I have decided to do “resolutions” a bit differently. I receive monthly “In Touch” & “Turning Point” catalogs that are basically Christian magazines that have articles, as well as a daily devotional for the month. Well one of them had an article that was talking about instead of making a list of resolutions how about having a word for the year. It would be like your theme word. I thought it was a great idea but for some reason I wasn’t sure. So I spoke to my sister on new years day and she said she went to church the night before and her bishop was talking about having a theme word, I thought that was cool. So me and her talked about it the new year and our expectancies (we have great talks…I’m blessed).

I have decided my word or words (yep 2, but I have not decided if there one in the same yet…): FAITH and/or BOLDNESS.

I did not intend for this post to be so long so I will go into details about my word in another post. But what are some of your reflections about 2013 and what would your word be for 2014?

God Bless,
