Proverbs 2 talks about the benefits of wisdom or shall I say the fruits of wisdom. The some of the  benefits of wisdom wisdom-concept-10944060spoken here that I found are:

1. You shall find God and understand the “Fear of the Lord”. v.1-8
2. Reap the rewards of wisdom, guidance, discernment. v.9-11
3. It will deliver us from evil. v.12-15
4. He safe from the harlot or harlotry. v.16-19
5. We will recieve a great inheritance. v.20-22

“Moral Benefits of Wisdom

1 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.

Reading verses 1-8; I wanted to point out that this is talking about the pursuit of wisdom and your sincerity in your heart. I would even call it the passion and desire because I can imagine searching for hidden treasure and most of us, we would try to search for all night and day without sleep. Of course we wouldnt be able to but that would be a burning desire and a dominating thought.
I had to ask the Holy Spirit to give me deeper understanding of “seeking wisdom”. My mind wanted to keep looking at the worldly wisdom and how we normally go about seeking that through worldly avenues but I was quickly reminded that here is talking about spiritual wisdom which can only be found through Christ. “Accepting His words” and “storing up His commands” can be done through studying of the word and meditating on it. But He also revealed that wisdom also comes from those around us. God places certain people in our life for at the time we need them. Then going further down in this chapter, he speaks of giving us discernment to know if who we’re listening to is speaking the spiritual guidance in our lives.
This portion of the chapter did bring some conviction in to my heart because I personally can be very “independent” on my thinking, opinions, and ideas and I sometimes have a difficult time accepting guidance. Part of this stemming from pride and selfishness.

Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.

12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men,
from men whose words are perverse,
13 who have left the straight paths
to walk in dark ways,
14 who delight in doing wrong
and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,
15 whose paths are crooked
and who are devious in their ways.

16 Wisdom will save you also from the adulterous woman,
from the wayward woman with her seductive words,
17 who has left the partner of her youth
and ignored the covenant she made before God.
18 Surely her house leads down to death
and her paths to the spirits of the dead.
19 None who go to her return
or attain the paths of life.

20 Thus you will walk in the ways of the good
and keep to the paths of the righteous.
21 For the upright will live in the land,
    and the blameless will remain in it;
22 but the wicked will be cut off from the land,
and the unfaithful will be torn from it.”

I received so much from this chapter. It’s such an amazing feeling when God reveal new things to from His word, even after you read multiple times over.

I so encourage you to study God’s word and if you don’t think you have a connection with the word or it feels empty and/or stale pray to God to open your heart and give you understanding. But continue to read, even if it’s only a short time each day (5min or so), it’s better to start somewhere and ask God to increase your desire. Do NOT let the enemy speak negative words and plant corrupt seeds in your head about your time or “lack thereof” with God, or let him say “you’ll never understand this stuff”.

God loves you sooo much (I’m still trying to grasp it all) and desires to use you for His purpose.

Be sure to share your insight you received from this chapter below.

I will be praying for you all and I hope you can pray for me as well… God bless..India 🙂
